Horrible hospital with horrible staff. My 76 year old mother was in with a broken arm and broken leg. While a few of the nurses were good there were a few that were absolutely horrendous. They left her in a dirty bed until the next shift because they gave her too much laxative at night. She asked for a bed pan and was refused because the nurse felt it was too soon since the last time she had used it. My mother was spoken to like she didn't matter and was a burden. Since she could not walk or use her opposite arm she was at their mercy and they shown none. Had I known about this while she was in there I would have demanded a hospital director address these issues. How dare any of you treat patients like this. If you don't like your job find a new profession don't mentally, verbally or physically abuse older patients that depend on you.
Great staff but older facility. Definitely in need of some work but given the state of the system they are doing a rockstar worthy job of providing top notch care.
Visiting hours over at 8pm. But don't try to leave at 8:01. Cause you are completely locked in. No security to be found anywhere but in some hut in the parking garage. 20 people waiting over 20 minutes to leave the hospital. Finally exited through a normally marked fire exit. That was convieniently opened by someEmployee of the hospital.
I don't even want to give this place even one star but I had no choice in order to do this review... Was there recently for the first time, and let's just say that the staff, including security and paramedics, are very disrespectful, and ill-equipped to be dealing with patients. Maybe not all, but the ones I encountered definitely were. Part of it isn't technically their fault, but they still need to possess professionalism at all times. Also, I could just hear tons of swearing, and I think that needs to end in all professions. It's very unnecessary. No one ever said it was easy being a nurse or working in a hospital. I know many nurses personally and commend them for the work that they do. But, the people I know actually love their job and are passionate about the work that they do. It shows when I see them working in the field. But, hospital staff regardless of how hard or stressful their shifts can be, still need to treat patients with care, dignity, and respect also. Someone needs to have these staff members get some sensitivity training, because the things I was hearing coming out of these peoples' mouths were completely unacceptable. To me, it doesn't seem like the current training is enough. Something more needs to be done! Secondly, the hospital hiring mangers need to screen these individuals better. They need to hire more people who actually want to work as well. I think it's tough because no one wants to work here. Too much negativity and complaining for hours how they don't want to be there. It makes the patient's stay unbearable too. Just give your job to someone else who does and is actually passionate about this type of work. I feel that the employees also act out in these ways because they know they won't get in trouble and will be protected. If they had harsher consequences I am sure they would take their job more seriously. Lastly, my stay lasted 16 hours! What did I get in the end? A headache and nothing else! Was told "Nothing I can do, good luck and thanks for WASTING MY TIME!". A doctor actually said that to me! More like, thanks for wasting my time. I don't even know if this person is actually a doctor, who knows? I was experiencing a mental health crisis basically and was referred to the emergency room. But of course, if you aren't suicidal, a harm to yourself or others, nothing can be done and nothing else could be offered. Then, you wonder why people kill themselves in our community daily! Love how the staff actually convinced me to stay there...I don't know what I was thinking? "We know you will get the help you need and don't worry we are here for you!" NOT! Even if I was dying and this was the closest place I had to attend, I rather die or get sent elsewhere then come back here! Sad that urgent mental health crisis situations for adults can only be dealt here. I walked around and should have recorded all of this on my phone. It was absolutely chaotic! What angered me the most, was how the staff made fun of a homeless individual in a crisis and even had the nerve to say she must be "cracked out" and "she's f-ed" and "I don't want to deal with her!" and so much more. Hopefully someone can be able to get back to me so I can further explain my experience in greater detail. I am actually scarred from everything that went down. No one, regardless of who you are, or where you come from, should ever have to be treated like this. Like one patient screamed, "You get treated like animals here and no where else treats you like this". David Musyj or anyone else reading this who works for or at Ouellette Campus, I know that not all of you work like this and that you are more capable of doing a better job. But, I hope you read this in it's entirety, and try to get more resources for sake of the community and the people who desperately need help right now. People don't need to be treated like this. People are desperate to receive care and need help. Everyone is upset and frustrated, including staff. These are suggestions that I think should be considered. This health crisis needs to be fixed!
Had an MRI done there twice.. I'm from Toronto, but this facility is old and third world just like its medical staff. Rude and unprofessional what's so ever. Why do they shout when they talk that I don't understand. I like to ask the CEO of the hospital, where do you find them? Where has your medical staff educated from? They act and talk like third world.
